Hi there,
I’ve been searching on the internet for the official Android update for Motorola DEXT. Unfortunately it won’t get 2.1 (Eclair), it remains on 1.5 (Cupcake). BUT!
It has a twin model called Cliq. Technically, it is the same, except for the name. Motorola sells MB200 with the name DEXT in Europe and it’s name is Cliq everywhere else.
I bought my own DEXT at Orange, UK. After a little searching I found out that Cliq (T-mobile, US) has got the Eclair update. I decided to install it. I was afraid of screwing my whole phone but it succeeded and works well. For me it’s still unlocked.
Make some backups with ASTRO if you want to keep your settings! So let’s start it!
Step 1:
- Visit this site: http://modmymobile.com/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=28333 and download the file. You have to register but it takes just a few minutes. After downloading unzip it.
Step 2:
- Download RSD Lite from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ufxs9lft9q2xwnu and install it.
Step 3:
- Connect your phone via USB and open RSD Lite. It will look like this:
Your device should appear in the list.
IF IT’S NOT THERE: then go to Settings>Privacy>Factory data reset. It’ll erase all your settings and delete your programs. Make backups before doing this. Anyway it must solve the problem (it solved for me) and it’ll be shown in the list.
Step 4:
- Click on the ‘…’ button (highlighted on the picture). Open your extracted .sbf file. Then just click on ‘Start’ and wait. Your phone’s screen will turn into blue with a Motorola logo. It’ll write something about flashing, too.
Step 5:
- Wait until it finishes flashing, then RSD Lite will write: finished and PASS. Now you have the American T-mobile version of Android. Your phone will restart (it’ll take a long time but be patient) with the new “Stick together” T-mobile screen. At the first run you have to log in to your Blur and Google account. For the first time it will be a blit slow, so restart your device as soon as it’s possible. I suggest to download Advanced Task Killer and kill unnecessary apps.
Now you can enjoy Android 2.1 with the new Market, features and a lot of apps. :) I hope you liked my post and it helped you.

I think this year was quite good. There were some troubles and rueful periods, but I liked it at all. I’ve made some vows, they are going to be useful and affect my life in a good way. It’s 6:10 am and I’m not sleepy so I think I’ll watch the 11th episode of Death Note.

I’m fed up with doing nothing. I want to do things what I’ve ever wanted. I’m going to go to the photo club, to the swimming pool and I should read more. I screw my time with useless things. I want to draw, but I can’t. I want to sing, but I can do it worse than drawing. So I have to try what I can be successful in at least. By the way, I should visit the gym, too. I want to be proud of myself. =)
